VW recalls 2015-2016 models for camshaft problems

91,867 vehicles are affected in all, all of which have the turbocharged EA888 1.8- and 2.0-liter engines. Those models in question are the 2015-2016 Jetta, Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Golf SportWagen, Passat, Golf and GTI.

There is a risk that the rear camshaft lobe could shear off, which would cause the car to loose power assistance, as this drives the brake vacuum pump. This also means engine power will be reduced.

VW has yet to learn what has caused this issue in the first place, and so has yet to come up with a fix, although the German carmaker has said letters will be sent out from December 22nd about its plans.
