VW expands recall, now includes Jetta, Passat, Golf, and Beetle

Towards the end of last week we reported the news that the 2012 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid had to be recalled due to a possible fuel leak. Well, it would seem that the NHTSA has had to issue a second round of recalls due to this very same issue, although affected different models from the German automaker.

VW expands recall

This expanded recall from VW now involves several other models; these are the Jetta, Passat, Golf, Beetle, along with the convertible versions and also several GTi models.

The model years affected are 2014 and 2015, although the affected Golf and GTI models are only the 2015 models. The problem is the same, which is due to a faulty sealing cap that is located on the fuel rail.

As for the number of affected units, the NHTSA reports that 44,658 vehicles now make up this latest VW recall, which is on top of the previous 37,979.

Volkswagen will contact affected owners where repairs will be made at no cost to you. However, if you are a little worried, then you can call the NHTSA on 1-888-327-4236.
