The multiple VW models affected by the new airbag recall are the 2010 Passat, 2010-2014 CC, Tiguan, 2010-2013 Eos and Jetta, 2011-2014 Golf and GTI, and finally the 2011-2013 Jetta SportWagen.

It’s been reported that the cause behind the possible airbag failure is due to the contamination of debris on the steering wheel clock spring. This could tear the electrical cable controlling the driver’s airbag. VW has yet to determine all the all the affected VINs, although once they have done so you will hear from the German carmaker about what they plan to do to resolve the problem.
