Toyota Corolla, Matrix and Avalon hardest hit by new recalls

Oh dear, things seem to be going from bad to worse for Toyota, as they have now had to issue a recall for its Corolla, Matrix and Avalon models due to an issue with their airbags. However, this is not anything to do with the current Takata problems, but rather a separate one.

Toyota Corolla, Matrix and Avalon hardest hit by new recalls

It’s not just Toyota, as Chrysler and Honda are also affected by this latest recall, although we singled out Toyota, seeing as though they have the greatest number of vehicles being recalled due to this latest fault.

According to the NHTSA, there have been tens of reports that airbags were not deployed during an accident, and the number of Toyota models possibly affected by this is 1,006,849.

The problem is said to be due to a fault with an electronic component that is manufactured by TRW and not Takata. While this is good news that this is not yet another blow for Takata, those that said most of this trouble was through poor Japanese quality control, just remember that TRW is based in the US.
