Toyota Camry engine burning oil issue should warrant recall

There is a growing number of people that are having issues with their Toyota Camry, many of which seem to be from 2007 to 2012. The issue is that there is a high oil consumption in these vehicles. This problem is only noticed when it comes to the first oil change, and there is far less in there then there should be.

Toyota Camry engine burning oil issue should warrant recall

What makes us laugh is the fact that Toyota dealers are aware of Camry’s burning oil and that they have done a few oil consumption tests, after which they say there is nothing to worry about.

However, every 1,000 miles or so owners have to replace around half a quart of oil, which to us is still too excessive.

We have heard some cases that while the dealer knows abut this issue, they have still charged owners for the oil change for the consumption test, which does seem bad to us.

What we would like to know is, if Toyota knows about this issue and advises these oil consumption test, then how come they are not taking the case further and actually doing something to finally fix the problem?
