Small Toyota FJ Cruiser recall for huge problem

This might not be one of those large recalls we have been used to seeing due to the airbag issues, but nevertheless, this is still a serious one. The 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser has a problem with its steering, which could fail and as such cause a serious accident.

Small Toyota FJ Cruiser recall for huge problem

Toyota is to recall just 120 of these models because of a concern with the intermediate shaft, this is the one that connects the steering wheel and steering box. It would seem that in some cases these were not welded correctly and so could become separated from each other.

Consequences – If this were to fail, then the driver could lose control of the FJ Cruiser’s steering and so is a real safety issue. The good news is that there are no reports of any accidents caused by this, and no injuries either.

What you need to do – Toyota has said that if an owner has an affected model, then they will be contacted very soon by mail so that your nearest dealer can replace the intermediate shaft.

However, we would advise you to contact Toyota Customer Service at 1-800-331-4331 seeing as though you are no doubt concerned for your safety. You could always enter your Toyota VIN here to see if your FJ Cruiser is to be recalled.

Do you have any issues with your Toyota, if so then please share them on our Toyota problems page.
