Repeat recall fears for Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango

There is a chance that Chrysler could join a long list of carmakers that might have to issue a recall for an issue that had already been recalled. It would seem that there are still issues with the sun visors in the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango.

The NHTSA has now opened a new investigation into the same recurring issue, which was to do with a screw in the sun visor fixing rubbing on the wiring of the vanity mirror, and in certain cases could short and catch fire.

In the original recall involved 900,000 of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango built from 2011 to 2014; 650,000 of which were in the US alone.

Autoblog has yet to learn what is the cause of this issue, although it does seem as though the original fix of a new plastic spacer might not have done the job it was intended to do.
