Nissan VIN search and problems

The Nissan car recalls for airbags became one of the most concerning for consumers, although there’s been plenty of other problems with Nissan vehicles that may have made a recall notice as well.

Nissan-cars

Nissan is a Japanese automobile manufacturer with headquarters in Yokohama, Japan. Like many other brands, the range of Nissan car problems include the need for a VIN search to see if they are covered under any recalls going back years, which can be located from the official contact details to the right.

There will be transmission and a variety of problems with Nissan cars that won’t make an official recall, so you can leave details on these issues below and read owner feedback with the status of different vehicles. If you have car complaints, then leave these below or directly with Nissan using customer service information on this page.

Was worried that my 2014 Nissan Leaf was to be affected by this new recall to do with its faulty steering column, but was relieved to learn that it is for European models only.

  • Will

Just waiting to hear from Nissan to see if my 2013 Nissan Rogue is affected by this airbag problem, as some of them might nit inflate correctly – talk about out the panic up you.

    • Jack

Yep, mine has to go in for repair, could not have come at a worse time with being too busy to head to my local dealer.

  • Tiffany

After replacing the pollen filter on my Qashqai, the heater only blows warm air on the drivers side, and cold on the passengers side.

  • Maria

The passenger door on my Nissan Primera will not lock with all of the other doors.

  • Susan

Still waiting to hear when my 2012 Nissan Rogue will be recalled due to that moisture problem

  • Zac

How can I diagnose a timing chain fault on my Navara?

  • Ben

I have now had to take my Nissan Altima in to the main dealer three times for a USB update, and the built-in apps do not work. Has anyone else suffered the same problem?

  • Jasmine

Could a pothole cause a broken coil spring in a 2009 Nissan Versa. I ask this because this is the first time a coil spring has broken this way, and so wondered if there were any issues with this model?

  • Nigel

For some reason the Nissan apps do not work in my 2015 Altima. It’s been to the dealer three times for a USB update, and still the problem persists.

  • Tara

I have been having issues with the ignition key in my 2010 Nissan Maxima, although I have heard there is a common fault with the steering lock assembly. Nissan knows about the issue and has already helped thousands of people, yet is unwilling to help me because I have too many miles on the clock.

  • George

I have lost count at how many times I have complained to Nissan about the radio not working correctly on my 2013 Murano. However, each time they keep saying there is not issue, but clearly there is. Am I the only one who experiences a lot of static and no signal at all?

  • Paul

The tires on my Nissan 300ZX seem to where a lot quicker than they used to. The wheels are in alignment, so could the suspension be at fault?

  • Jess

What on earth would cause the brakes on my 2012 Nissan Sunny to be so loud. I have been back to the dealer several times who have yet been able to diagnose the problem.

  • Danni

I just don not understand why the power windows on my 2014 Nissan Murano keep coming down on their own? This is not an issue when it is dry out, but this has happened on two occasions while raining, and the inside of the car has got soaked, as have I while driving.

  • Ella

When the weather is cold out the range on my 2013 Nissan Leaf is reduced dramatically. I now know that something like this is to be expected because of its batteries, but a heads-up from Nissan would have been nice, as surely they would have known this?

  • Jenny

My 2014 Nissan Qashqai keeps losing power, which is not an engine issue, but rather to do with its gearbox. It has taken a lot of debating with the dealer, but they have finally agreed that it is an issue with the automatic transmission, and are now going to replace it free of charge. I you have a similar issue then just give the dealer a lot of pressure, and they should buckle.

  • Chris

The MAF (Mass Air Fuel Sensor) has been replaced in several times on my 2013 Nissan Juke by the dealer, yet the engine service light keeps coming back on. This is just getting silly, because how many times does an issue have to happen before Nissan do something about it?

  • Nancy

This is the first time that I have ever had a car stall on my while going downhill, but it happened to me in my 2012 Nissan Quest. Things were running just fine, and then the engine decided to splutter, and then she stalled on me. This did panic me a little, but thankfully was only going slow, and so was able to apply the brakes, although without no assistance from the engine, and also the emergency brake as well, which did help bring the car to a stop. I left it a few minutes and managed to get the car started again, but now I am fearful of driving the thing, especially as this happened why I had my 8 and 5 year-old children the car at the time.

  • Jerry

Every time I go over a large bump in the road the brake pressure on my 2009 Nissan Murano goes and then the car becomes uncontrollable. Once this happens the brakes are hardly there at all for a good hour or so. The garage assumed it was the master cylinder, but later found out after paying out to have it changed that this did not cure the problem. I dod not want to go back to that garage, so wondered if any of you on this community had any ideas?

  • Ken

I’m rather annoyed that the paint has started to chip on my 2014 Nissan Rouge. The worst places are the hood, front fender and even the inside of the driver’s door. I have contacted Nissan, but are unwilling to put their hands up and admit they are at fault. I have heard similar stories from other 2014 Nissan Rouge owners, and so feel a campaign is needed for a recall.

  • Tony

I first had trouble with the transmission on my 2007 Nissan Quest a few months back, which had started as an intermittent fault where it would slip every now and then. However, the problem has now become a major one, as it slips so badly every time I drive the vehicle. I have been told that the transmission is shot and need to buy a new unit, as you cannot buy rebuilt ones – is this true?

  • Dorris

I have not overdone things, yet the brakes on my 2011 Nissan Murano stopped working while driving at 40 miles per hour. I had to pump them several times before I could feel the brakes stopping the car. I took it to Nissan who charged me $800 for repair, yet since then have learned this is a common issue with this model and year, yet no recalls have been issued- what gives?

  • Hose

Oil has started to leak through the Transfer Seal Case on my Nissan Murano. I am sure when I bought the car this was once of the items that had been repaired, so baffled as to why it is happening yet again – unless of course this is a common problem and something that Nissan needs to look in to.

  • Dru

Now that the cold weather has started to creep in, I can hear the timing chain on my 2007 Nissan Quest. However, after about 5 minutes, the noise goes away, so why would this only be happening while the engine is cold?

  • Jane

Whenever my 2007 Nissan Murano started to warm the thing slipped through its gears, which did get annoying. However, now when I go to put the car in drive, it will not go anywhere – what’s the issue here?

  • Janice

The battery on my 2010 Nissan Maxima keeps draining. I have now replaced it three times with a good quality battery, yet it still drains. I have checked the alternator, and that is fine, so think something on the car is draining it over night, but what?

  • Shirley

When I try to start my 2011 Nissan Leaf all that is get is several error messages. One such message is that my foot should be on the brake while trying to start, which it is. I am at a loss as to what the cause could be.

  • Janice

My Nissan Cube has an issue with its steering lock, as it is an electronic system and meant to unlock the moment you put the key in the ignition. However, it remains locked, and so unable to drive the car. Mine is the 2010 model, which is annoying, as I know Nissan only issued a recall for the 2009 for the very same problem.

  • Mack

My Nissan Maxima is no longer able to start, and soon found it to be the steering column lock. I have been told by Nissan that it will cost around $1,000 to repair, and so wondering if it is a tough job to do myself?

  • Max

The brakes on my Nissan Leaf sometimes do not work, or they would take around half a second to engage after I have put my foot on the brake pedal. I wonder if this is down to the computer, as most of the system is controlled by a computer?

  • Oscar

I have a Nissan Rouge and there is such a lad whining noise when I accelerate, and everyone can hear it in the car. I am not to sure the longer I drive it the more serious the damage is, and also what could be causing such a noise.

  • Mike

There is a strange grinding noise when I first start to drive my 2011 Nissan Sentra. I first assumed it was an issue with a piece of bodywork grinding on the road, but later found out that it was coming from the engine, The noise only happens while being driven, and does not make the noise when the engine is just running.

  • Dave

Nissan has issued a recall that affects more than 56,000 Murano cars from 2013-2014, due to an issue with power steering.

  • Josh

My 2009 Nissan Altima has suffered a steering lock failure. The annoying thing is, this is a manufacturing defeat, yet the carmaker will not pay out.

  • Bruce Boone

I did my update on the transmission of my 2013 Altima like the recall said. My transmission went out just the describe in the recall, even after I had the update done. Now, they are telling us at the dealership anyway that we are going to have to pay for new transmission since my recall didn`t say inspect and update. Anyone else having this issue?
