There is a risk that they could become corroded from the water that could leak into the fitting. This is a serious issue because the joint could rust and make the components come apart and result in the loss of steering.

Mazda is to recall its CX-9 in two stages, the first is that the 2007-09 model years will be recalled first, and later will be followed by the 2010-14.

The states in which they are to be recalled are Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington D.C., West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
