List of Mazda models in latest round of recalls

It was recently reported that Mazda is to recall 1,368,500 of its vehicles, a figure that the Japanese carmaker has since confirmed. From the list of models that are to be recalled, they are all older models, some of which even date back to the late 80s.

The reason for the recall is because it is possible that the ignition switch could short circuit, in which case there is the potential that it could cause a fire.

List of Mazda models to be recalled includes the 1990-1995 323, 1993-1998 626, 1993-1995 929, 1989-1998 MPV, 1993-1997 MX-6
1992-1993 MX-3, and the 1990-1998 Protégé.

The main reason for the potential short circuit is because the grease around the switch will carbonize over time, in which case it will then become conductive on the contact points of the switch.

As for when new Mazda recall will begin, this should happen sometime in December. Got a Mazda problem you wish to share, then you can do so HERE.
