Latest Honda airbag recall update – expanded again

Honda has led the way in recalls due to faulty airbags, and while some of you will say this is not a good thing, as no recall is – it is when you consider this is a third-party issue and so Honda is footing the expense. There has been a lot of controversy as to why Takata has yet to take the blame, especially since they have come under increased pressure from the NHTSA.

Honda airbag real December update - expanded again

No matter what the outcome of this is, Honda has expanded its recall yet again to now include 5.4 million vehicles in total. Honda has been working closely with the NHTSA, and they also say with Takata, although we do find that hard to believe seeing as though they have pretty much buried their heads in the sand over this shambles.

The thought of an airbag going off with the risk of spraying the passenger with metal shrapnel is not something Honda wants its customers to worry about, as it is like playing Russian roulette because you just don’t know if and when it will go off.

Revised model list and years included in this updated Honda airbag recall are: 2001-2007 Honda Accord with 4-cylinder engines, 2001-2002 Honda Accord with V6 engines, 2001-2005 Honda Civic, 2002-2006 Honda CR-V, 2003-2011 Honda Element, 2002-2004 Honda Odyssey, 2003-2007 Honda Pilot, 2006 Honda Ridgeline, 2003-2006 Acura MDX, 2002-2003 Acura TL, and the 2002 Acura CL.
