Honda Civic, Fit transmission forces another recall

We knew that it would not be too long before Honda issued another recall, as they do seem to have a recall at least once every few months. It is the turn of the 2014-2015 Civic and 2015 Fit because of an issue with their transmission.

Honda Civic, Fit transmission forces another recall

There are 143,676 being recalled in all, and this is due to a problem with the software that controls the CVT. There is a chance that too much stress could be put on the drive pulley shaft because at times the software currently allows high hydraulic pressure in the transmission.

Some of the components have also not been made hard enough, and so by combining those two factors, the car could lose drive or lock the front wheels. The fix will see the software updated, which means no extra pressure will be put on the system. According to the NHTSA the recall is to begin on October 16.
