Chevrolet Cruze included in latest ignition recall

Things are not looking too good for Suzuki at the moment, as the carmaker has had to issue a recall for more than 2 million vehicles, one of which is the Chevrolet Cruze sedan that it builds for General Motors. The reason these vehicles are being recalled is due to a fault with their ignition.

However, none of these Chevy Cruze’s being recalled are in the US, and only those sold in the Australian, European and Japanese markets. There have been a few cases where the ignition switches started to smoke, but thankfully there have not been any reports of injuries or accidents.

Affected models were built between 1998 and 2009 and also include the Suzuki Swift and Alto. The Japanese car manufacturer has declined to report just how much this issue is to cost them, although with around 2 million vehicles being recalled, it is not going to be cheap.
