BMW models affected by new airbag recall

BMW has issued a new recall for several of its models due to a possible issue with their airbags. It’s worth pointing out that this has nothing to do with the ongoing Takata airbag recalls, as this is a completely separate issue.

BMW models affected by new airbag recall

There are 6,073 BMW vehicles to be recall in all in the US, and these are the 2014-2015 i3, along with the 2014-2016 Mini Hardtop 2 Door Cooper and Cooper S, 2015-2016 Hardtop 4 Door Cooper and Cooper S, and also the 2015-2016 Hardtop 2 Door John Cooper Works models.

It would seem that the airbag components were not made to the correct specification, and so there is the chance that they may not deploy if in a low-speed accident.

Affected owners are to be notified soon, where your local BMW dealer will replacement the affected airbag replacments free of charge. Do you have another issue with your BMW, if so please share those with our community.
