2016 Volvo XC90 recall, deliveries on hold for fix

Volvo has confirmed that they are to announce a recall for the 2016 XC90 in due course, and so are currently making preparations for this all seven-passenger vehicle. In the meantime, all deliverers have been ceased, although dealers are still taking orders, and so are confident of a fix very soon.

2016 Volvo XC90 recall

This 2016 Volvo XC90 recall is a bit of a blow for the model, as it is new to the road, and so having an issue leading to Volvo recalling its new model is not good publicity.

The issue with the 2016 Volvo XC90 is due to its Inflatable Curtain airbag system – yes another airbag issue. There is a possibility that the system may not inflate as it should for those passengers in the third row because it could inflate, but the D-pillars could obstruct the airbags.

Volvo has said that this is not an issue with the airbags, but rather the trim panel, and while they say it is not dangerous to drive, we would advise not having anyone sit in that third row for now. Volvo will notify owners in due course over what plan of action to take.
