2016 Subaru Outback, Legacy recall notifications received

Subaru has said they were to start the recall of its 2016 Outback and Legacy models, and so affected owners should have received notifications by now. In these notices you would have been told of the issue that has led to these recalls, and also what the carmakers plans to rectify the problem.

2016 Subaru Outback recall

This is not a huge recall, as there are only 3,251 models being recalled. The affected 2016 Legacy was built from 2015 to Nov. 16 2015, whereas the Outback was manufactured between Oct. 24, 2015, and Nov. 17, 2015.

So why are these vehicles being recalled? There is a possibility that the rear differential could become separated from the driveshaft because of the nuts that secure them may not have been done up tight enough. If this were to happen, then the driveshaft could come away and hit the gas tank, and we don’t need to tell you how dangerous that will be.

It’s an easy fix, as Subaru will inspect and tighten as necessary. Visit our Subaru problems page if you have any issues you wish to share.
